The Nursery Is Beautiful

My heart is racing as I swim towards the shore, my scales constrict closer to my cold body that floats and absorbs the sun rays. It seems a little far off, but in no time now all will be all mine. The distraction is intense and the smell of freshness lures me away from the shore back to sea. It floats behind me and is massive and bright blue and I can see it's pregnant and about to release the millions of eggs to sea. I divert my tail back towards it and move my massive deep green frame towards it. I leap hard and fast and tasted something familiar.
Like two elephants at sea, crushing all that is in its path, I sense this journey will be different.
Life is hard and cruel because, I didn't see this one coming. I have sunk my teeth into a trap, this giant crab that should be deep in a frozen lake was not fresh and was not alive. I have been tricked into a trap and as I fight to get free, the massive hook hidden deep between the millions of eggs disperse my blood and a mixture of the once alive and fertile crab

I could see the headlines now, Nile crocodile caught with king crab bait. My years of toiling now all for nothing...
